It has becoming increasingly important for us to pay attention to forests. As Gandhi said, “What we are doing to our forests is a mirror reflection of what we are doing to ourselves”. Project Finca Del Sol is our humble attempt to restore our humanity towards nature and to promote restorative harmony & healing to the land outside us as well as the universe within us.
Our hope is that when you come to Ometepe Island and book your stay with Finca Del Sol, you will relax, rejuvenate, reconnect and share this beautiful experience back home. We encourage you to spread our vision with your local community and continue to nurture your relationship with mother earth. Each visitor who stays a few nights at Finca Del Sol Eco Lodge and Permaculture Farm has a direct impact on supporting the local economy and the environment.
At Finca Del Sol, we are simply trying to restore the natural world in order to restore our minds and bodies to lead a full life. A lot of consistent and careful thought has been put into the preservation of the local land and its culture. Respecting the land we live on and employing locals has become a mantra here at the farm. Our vision is based on the following principles:

2009
In 2009, Finca Del Sol first opened its doors. Sheri and Cristiano, the previous owners of the property, put their heart and soul into creating a one of a kind space for wildlife and plants to thrive. Oddly enough, it was roughly around that time that Vik – the present owner of Finca Del Sol – embarked on a journey in search of a healing, restorative space that respected mother nature and would attract visitors from all over the world. Needless to say, serendipity would occur nine years later when he visited Ometepe Island on a whim.
January 2018
In January of 2018, Vik visited Ometepe and joined a group of travellers who were hiking up Volcan Maderas. The journey towards this arduous hike included paths that crossed Finca Del Sol. At that time, not one of the hikers even knew this was a farm available for sale.
Falling in love with Ometepe and soon after learning about the property which was up for sale, Vik decided that Finca Del Sol would be the perfect place to work on his vision that he had been dreaming about for the past 10 years. It was about time to make it a reality.
August 2018
After acquiring the farm in August of 2018, Vik started to re-brand and develop the future vision of this incredibly beautiful, sacred land. This vision is strongly supported by a passionate team that consists of 100% local employees.
The entire team at Finca Del Sol will continue to work on creating a retreat space while rebuilding and strengthening our relationship with Mother Earth. We absolutely love working as caretakers of this beautiful piece of heaven on Ometepe, the Oasis of Peace on Earth.
